Aquila Aviation ends production of A211 and A212 aircraft

Aquila Aviation has ended production of its A211 and A212 two-seat aircraft at Schönhagen airfield near Berlin and has removed the models from its website. The German manufacturer delivered its final aircraft to a domestic customer in August 2026 and is now limiting its business to supplying spare parts, leaving the future of support for roughly 250 aircraft in service uncertain.

The production stoppage was accompanied by a major workforce reduction. In August, 32 of the company’s approximately 40 employees received termination notices. Aquila is expected to retain its production and development approvals, but it no longer manufactures composite fuselage components. Spare parts are being sourced from suppliers and supplied from existing stocks while available.

The owners reportedly rejected several domestic and international orders that could have increased output. Aquila has not publicly explained the decision, and an email inquiry seeking details about the production halt and future plans went unanswered.

Founded at Schönhagen in 1996, Aquila has delivered about 270 aircraft. Once current inventories are depleted, operators could face uncertainty over the availability of replacement parts and maintenance support.
