Aeromexico to deploy APiJET flight-optimisation software across fleet

Aeromexico will deploy APiJET’s Digital Winglets 4D flight-optimisation platform across its fleet of nearly 170 Boeing and Embraer aircraft under a multi-year agreement. The decision follows a network-wide evaluation and will give the Mexican airline real-time recommendations on route, altitude, speed and timing changes, with the aim of reducing fuel burn, operating costs and disruption.

Digital Winglets 4D analyses weather, airspace restrictions and surrounding traffic to identify conflict-free adjustments during flight. The platform is based partly on NASA’s Traffic-Aware Strategic Aircrew Requests technology and requires no additional onboard hardware or software installation.

Aeromexico Chief Operating Officer Santiago Diago described the deployment as a measure to improve operational safety and efficiency. APiJET chief executive Rob Green said the agreement brings the number of aircraft using the system in North America to more than 400.

The companies did not disclose the contract value, projected fuel savings, delay reductions or a detailed implementation schedule.
