ST Engineering has opened a new airframe maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at Changi Creek in Singapore, expanding its widebody servicing capacity by 40% when fully operational. The S$170 million complex is the company’s fourth airframe MRO facility in Singapore and its second-largest aerospace site in the country, with four widebody aircraft bays across 84,000 square metres.
The opening comes as demand for aircraft maintenance continues to rise, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. ST Engineering plans to use drones, autonomous mobile robots, humanoid robots and 3D printing at the facility to improve productivity, while the site is expected to support more than 500 jobs. Once fully ramped up, it should allow the company to service about 100 additional widebody aircraft a year in Singapore.
Operations began in May and are being expanded over the coming year. The new hub strengthens ST Engineering’s long-standing aerospace footprint at Changi, where it already operates multiple maintenance sites and serves widebody fleets across its regional MRO network.
