Verkehrshaus marks 25 years since Swissair grounding with Air and Space Days programme

The Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne is marking 25 years since the Swissair grounding with a remembrance element in its Air and Space Days programme from 2 to 4 October. The museum will screen Grounding – Die letzten Tage der Swissair in its film theatre on 2 October, the anniversary of the day in 2001 when Swissair ceased operations and its fleet was grounded.

The programme links the anniversary to the museum’s wider aviation and space theme days, which also feature helicopter displays, model aircraft activities, hot-air balloon launches and drone flying under supervision. The grounding remains one of the most enduring symbols in Swiss aviation history, and the film screening adds a public-facing memory component to the event at the Lucerne venue. Admission to the special screening is set at CHF 5 for the anniversary showing.
