Nor’easter hampers Jet-A deliveries at Boston Logan

A nor’easter has constrained Jet-A fuel deliveries into Boston Logan International Airport, prompting Massport to ask airlines to arrive with extra fuel and helping trigger wider operational disruption at the Boston hub. Delta Air Lines confirmed that weather has limited fuel deliveries into BOS and has been bringing aircraft in with additional fuel while using tanker trucks where possible.

Massport said Boston had enough fuel to get through the weekend, but fuel ships could not reach the airport until the storm passed. The issue reflects Logan’s dependence on marine fuel deliveries rather than a structural airport problem, with the main operational pressure coming from the weather system itself.

The fuel constraint landed alongside heavy disruption across the airport, where the nor’easter has driven widespread cancellations and delays. Some reporting indicated fuel barges were held at New York port until Monday, 28 September, underlining the temporary logistics bottleneck facing carriers operating into Boston.
