Flydubai launches daily Dubai-Pokhara service as first scheduled international link at Nepal airport

Flydubai has launched daily non-stop flights between Dubai and Pokhara, making it the first airline to establish regular international passenger service at Pokhara International Airport in Nepal. The inaugural flight landed on 23 September with a Boeing 737 MAX 8 and opened a new scheduled link between Dubai International and the western Nepali tourism hub.

The route is operating daily from Terminal 3 at Dubai International, with arrivals in Pokhara in the evening and a same-night return to Dubai. Early reports from airport officials indicated strong initial demand on the first flights, with passenger loads described as encouraging despite one cancellation caused by bad weather.

Pokhara International Airport opened in 2023 but had struggled to secure sustained international traffic. The new service gives the airport its first regular overseas passenger connection and adds a direct link to a major global hub, supporting onward travel through Dubai to a wider network. Local reporting also cited the Boeing 737 MAX 8’s 166-seat layout and a ceremonial water-cannon welcome on arrival.
