A strong nor’easter cut across the US East Coast on Saturday, disrupting air travel from Washington, D.C., to Maine and forcing hundreds of flight cancellations and thousands of delays. Boston Logan International was among the hardest hit airports, while American Airlines, JetBlue and United Airlines issued travel waivers for affected passengers.
Flight tracker data showed 445 cancelled flights involving US airports and 3,016 delays late on Saturday, after earlier counts had already topped 400 cancellations. The storm’s impact spread across the Northeast during a busy weekend travel period, adding pressure on airline schedules and airport operations beyond Boston.
Logan recorded more than 250 cancellations at one point, with disruptions also affecting other major Northeast airports. The waivers allowed travellers on eligible itineraries to change flights without paying change fees, helping airlines manage the operational fallout as conditions worsened through the day.
