Thales has opened a new Flight Safety Center at its Bordeaux campus in Mérignac, near Bordeaux, creating an immersive space focused on aviation safety culture and training across its civil and military aerospace activities. The facility is intended for employees, customers, partners, suppliers, authorities and experts, and forms the first phase of a wider rollout across strategic sites.
The centre combines interactive experiences, technology demonstrations and operational feedback covering the full lifecycle of aerospace systems, from development and certification to operation and maintenance. Thales is targeting the training of all 21,000 employees in its civil and military aviation businesses worldwide as part of the programme.
The move comes as the group seeks to strengthen safety culture amid higher production rates and workforce turnover, with the company pointing to disruptions linked to the Covid period. French coverage described the Bordeaux installation as a single room fitted with about a dozen panels, screens and educational displays, designed to train roughly 800 employees a year.
