TUI has named a Boeing 737-8 “Varna” at Varna Airport in Bulgaria, with the aircraft taking on a promotional role for the country’s Black Sea coast across the group’s international route network. Bulgarian Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov served as godfather at the public ceremony, which brought together TUI, airport representatives and local officials.
The naming underlines Bulgaria’s place in TUI’s holiday portfolio, with the coastal city of Varna positioned as a branded ambassador for the destination. Airport officials described the event as the first aircraft naming ceremony of its kind at Varna Airport. The jet will carry the city’s name on routes beyond Bulgaria, tying the airline’s branding strategy directly to destination marketing in one of its growing leisure markets.
