Alaska Airlines will increase seat capacity at Seattle/Everett Paine Field by 50% from this autumn through summer 2027, led by a new twice-daily nonstop service to San Jose starting 14 April 2027. Horizon Air will operate the route with Embraer 175 aircraft, and tickets are already on sale.
The programme also lifts existing West Coast flying from Paine Field. Los Angeles will rise to twice-daily service on larger Boeing 737 aircraft, Portland will also grow to two daily flights, and additional capacity is planned for San Diego and San Francisco. Alaska is positioning the expansion as part of a broader effort to strengthen its Seattle-area network and offer more convenient options for travellers in Snohomish County, North Seattle and the wider Puget Sound region.
The move comes as Alaska deepens its role at Paine Field after Frontier’s departure from the airport earlier this year. The airline did not give a detailed baseline for the 50% capacity figure, and only the San Jose launch has a specific start date; the remaining frequency changes are due to roll out within the broader fall-to-summer window.
