Saab has signed three memorandums of understanding with SSC Space, OHB Sweden and Ericsson to broaden its role in the space domain as a systems integrator. The agreements cover satellite systems, ground infrastructure, mission engineering, launch infrastructure and communications, with Saab positioning space as a growing part of defence capability across air, land, sea, cyber and space.
The SSC Space cooperation focuses on ground-station networks, mission engineering, high-altitude platform services and orbital launch infrastructure, including Esrange Space Center. The OHB Sweden MoU examines how existing and future satellite systems and platforms could feed into Saab’s multi-domain solutions, while the Ericsson agreement centres on linking terrestrial and space-based communications for defence, security and resilience.
No financial terms were disclosed, and the framework remains exploratory rather than a final commercial contract. Saab’s strategy is to strengthen Swedish and Nordic capabilities across the space value chain as military demand grows for communications, navigation, surveillance and early warning from space-based assets.
