A Royal Air Force BAE Systems Hawk T2 training jet crashed near RAF Valley in north Wales shortly after take-off on Wednesday, with both crew members ejecting safely. The aircraft came down near Pencarnisiog on Anglesey, and the two occupants were treated for minor injuries. No injuries or damage on the ground were reported.
The incident triggered a rapid emergency response, with fire, ambulance and police teams attending the scene in open farmland close to the base. The RAF has opened an investigation into the crash and temporarily paused Hawk operations as a precaution while the inquiry continues. Hawk T2 aircraft are a core part of the UK’s fast-jet training system, so any suspension can affect pilot training throughput. The cause of the accident had not been established in the latest reports.
