Austrian Airlines has sold its last three Boeing 767-300ERs to Cobra Aviation Services LLC for dismantling, with the aircraft set for transfer to Arizona and the carrier’s final 767 commercial flight expected by early December. The move closes a 38-year Boeing 767 chapter at the Lufthansa Group airline as it speeds up long-haul renewal with Boeing 787-9s.
The aircraft involved are OE-LAE, OE-LAY and OE-LAZ. Austrian began operating the type in 1988 and has flown nine 767s over the past 38 years, but one airframe, OE-LAW, was already decommissioned after the pandemic in 2021.
The first of the remaining aircraft is scheduled to leave Vienna in October, with the other two following towards the end of the year. Austrian is progressively replacing older widebodies with 787-9s, with five expected later in 2026 and seven by summer 2027.
