Flughafen Dresden and Elbe Flugzeugwerke are jointly assessing future infrastructure needs at Dresden Airport, with extra parking and apron space for wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A380 and A330 among the main priorities. The two sides also want to factor possible airport changes into planning at an early stage, while strengthening coordination on military-related projects.
The agreement links the airport operator, Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, with one of Dresden’s key aerospace employers at a time when EFW’s programmes depend on large-aircraft handling capacity. The company uses the site for aircraft conversion and maintenance work, including A380-related activities, making apron availability an operational issue rather than a long-term abstraction.
No expansion project, budget or timetable has been set out. The deal is limited to a planning framework, but it opens the way for discussions on how Dresden Airport could adapt to future demand from EFW without disrupting ongoing operations.
