US-Bangla targets $4-5 billion aircraft leasing programme by November 2026

US-Bangla Airlines plans to place another leased-aircraft order worth $4-5 billion within the next 60 days, signalling a fresh fleet-expansion push by Bangladesh’s largest private carrier. Managing director Abdullah Al Mamun outlined the plan in Dhaka at the United Convention Centre in Kurmitola during a policy conclave on the country’s aviation sector and economic progress.

The carrier has not disclosed the aircraft type, number or lessor, and has not indicated whether the programme will involve Boeing or Airbus. The timing points to a possible signing by November 2026, although the arrangement remains only a forward commitment at this stage.

The new plan follows US-Bangla’s 29 July announcement of a $1.5 billion leasing deal for 21 Boeing aircraft, including 15 737-8s and six 737-800s, due for delivery by the end of 2027. The latest proposal would be materially larger and could become one of Bangladesh’s biggest aircraft-leasing commitments if it proceeds to contract.
