SITA has introduced Border Flow Lane, a border-processing system designed to shift more immigration checks to pre-departure and arrival data handling rather than stop-and-check processing at the border. The concept targets governments, border agencies and airport border-control teams, with the aim of clearing travellers before departure and allowing them to move through immigration halls with fewer interruptions.
The system is positioned as a pre-clearance and move-through model that keeps officers in control while reducing the number of travellers needing secondary review. SITA says the approach can clear border control up to eight times faster than traditional eGates and could allow more than 75% of travellers to be cleared before departure.
For airports and governments, the attraction is higher throughput without a corresponding expansion of physical infrastructure. Officers retain the ability to stop any traveller at any point, but the workflow is intended to concentrate attention on the smaller share of cases that need closer scrutiny. The launch is a global technology announcement rather than a deployment at a single airport or country.
