Air Cairo has placed a firm order with Airbus for 15 A320neo aircraft, signing the deal at the El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt. The order is the airline’s first direct purchase of the A320neo and forms part of a wider fleet expansion strategy as Air Cairo builds capacity for growth in Egypt and beyond.
The airline is targeting a rise from a fleet of more than 45 aircraft to over 130 by 2034, combining new ownership with continued network and fleet renewal. Air Cairo recently took delivery of its 40th aircraft in August 2026, underscoring the pace of its narrowbody expansion ahead of the Airbus order.
Financial terms were not disclosed, and no delivery schedule or engine choice was given in the initial disclosure. The deal adds another customer for the A320neo family in the Middle East and North Africa, where airlines continue to favour fuel-efficient narrowbody jets for short- and medium-haul operations.
