U.S. confirms F-35A patrols supporting Iran blockade as 92 vessels redirected

U.S. Central Command has posted images of a U.S. Air Force F-35A stealth fighter patrolling over regional waters as U.S. forces continue enforcing the maritime blockade against Iran. The update also put the number of commercial vessels redirected at 92, with three disabled and two boarded, as the operation remains active across waters linked to the Strait of Hormuz.

The latest total is higher than the 86 vessels reported earlier in the week, showing that the blockade effort is still moving vessels away from the area. CENTCOM’s post associated the fifth-generation fighter with the maritime mission, but did not identify the squadron, base, weapons load or the exact nature of the sortie.

The public imagery places the F-35A alongside the broader enforcement effort, which has previously involved other aircraft in the region. The operation continues to focus on keeping commercial shipping clear of the blockade zone while U.S. forces maintain pressure on traffic through one of the world’s most sensitive chokepoints.
