Libyan Airlines to return Airbus A320 to service after eight months on ground

Libyan Airlines is preparing to restore an Airbus A320-200 to commercial service after the jet spent about eight months grounded. The 15-year-old aircraft, registered 5A-LAK, was ferried from Tripoli to Monastir in early August and brought back to Libya on 30 August after maintenance work in Tunisia.

The aircraft had been out of service since early January, limiting fleet availability for the Tripoli-based carrier. News Aero reported that the jet was repaired during its stay in Tunisia, although no formal details have emerged on the work carried out or on the precise timing of its return to revenue flights.

The move points to gradual fleet restoration at Libyan Airlines, which operates in a challenging environment where aircraft downtime can quickly affect scheduling and capacity. No route assignments or restart date for 5A-LAK have been disclosed, leaving the operational plan for the aircraft still unclear.
