ValueJet is expanding its fleet with a second Boeing 737-800, a 12-year-old former Southwest Airlines jet registered 5N-CGA and configured with 175 seats. The aircraft has been parked in Miami since 24 August and is due to be ferried to Nigeria, following the airline’s first Boeing 737-800 delivery in early August as it shifts away from an all-regional-jet fleet.
The Abuja-based carrier, founded in 2022, is using the larger 737s to lift capacity and widen its reach across Africa. Planned destinations include Abidjan, Libreville and Douala, reflecting a move into higher-density regional and intra-African services.
The second jet follows the arrival of ValueJet’s first Boeing 737-800, which entered the fleet as part of a planned three-aircraft Boeing 737NG expansion. The strategy gives the airline more range and payload than its CRJ fleet and positions it for longer sectors within West Africa and beyond.
