easyJet has launched an onboard fundraising appeal across its flights to support UNICEF’s response to devastating flash floods in Nepal. Cabin crew will collect donations during in-flight service until 30 September, with the money directed to UNICEF’s Children’s Emergency Fund and assistance for children and families affected by the disaster.
The campaign targets around 22,100 children in Nepal and wider relief work for communities hit by the floods. It turns the airline’s existing onboard sales routine into a temporary donation channel, giving passengers the option to contribute while travelling. easyJet has tied the appeal to its broader partnership with UNICEF, which has regularly used the carrier’s network for inflight fundraising campaigns.
The initiative is time-limited and already under way, with collections taking place across easyJet’s flight network throughout September. While the effort is a corporate social responsibility measure rather than an operational change, it adds a humanitarian dimension to the airline’s passenger service and extends airline-charity fundraising into a current disaster-relief response.
