Aerospace Bristol advances Bristol Freighter restoration as aircraft returns to its wheels

Aerospace Bristol has moved its Bristol Freighter T.170 onto its main landing gear, bringing the historic transport aircraft back onto its own wheels at the museum’s site in Bristol. The work advances the restoration of what the museum describes as the only surviving Bristol Freighter in Europe, with the aircraft now positioned for a planned static display in a new outdoor exhibition area.

The aircraft was moved out of the conservation hangar in July before the latest stage of work was completed by the museum’s conservation specialists, volunteers and former aerospace engineers. The Bristol Freighter project is the museum’s largest conservation effort and is expected to continue over the coming years. The museum has not given a final completion date, and further work remains ahead before the display is finished.
