Patria completes first Finnish-assembled F135 engine at Linnavuori

Patria has completed the assembly of Finland’s first F135 engine at its new Linnavuori facility in Nokia, with the milestone marked at an event hosted in Finland on 3 September. The engine work supports Finland’s F-35 programme and Patria’s role as the Finnish Defence Forces’ strategic partner for initial assembly and future maintenance, repair and overhaul of the engines.

Patria and Pratt & Whitney, part of RTX, agreed in February on final assembly of the first F135 engines in Finland. Production is already under way at Linnavuori and is planned to continue until 2030, after which the site will shift more fully into sustainment work. Maintenance and support activities are set to continue there through the full lifecycle of Finland’s F-35 fleet.

The Linnavuori facility gives Finland a domestic engine assembly and sustainment base for the F-35, extending industrial participation in the programme and supporting regional logistics resilience in the Nordic area. Finland’s first F-35A fighters are due to arrive at the end of 2026.
