Swedavia airports post 3% passenger growth in August as Arlanda sets new international record

Swedavia’s ten airports handled more than 3.3 million passengers in August 2026, up 3% from a year earlier, as international travel led the recovery and Stockholm Arlanda Airport set a second straight monthly record for overseas traffic. Arlanda welcomed just over 2.4 million travellers in the month, with international traffic rising just over 3% to about 2.1 million, while domestic traffic fell 4%.

The international total at Arlanda exceeded the previous August peak from 2018 by roughly 16,000 passengers. Overall traffic at Sweden’s largest airport increased 2% year on year, despite the decline in domestic demand to just over 324,000 passengers. Across the network, international traffic rose 3% and moved broadly back to pre-pandemic levels, while growth at Gothenburg Landvetter and other airports, including Malmö and Visby, also supported the monthly increase. Landvetter handled about 566,000 passengers, up 4%, with domestic traffic rising 11%.
