Police evacuated Terminal 1 at Berlin Brandenburg Airport on Thursday evening after a woman at a Federal Police service point reported that she had a dangerous substance with her. Officers could not immediately rule out a risk, prompting the clearance of the public area at Germany’s capital airport. Operations were shifted as far as possible to Terminal 2 while flights continued, although delays and some cancellations were possible.
Early reports indicated that the airport rail station was also affected and trains were not stopping there during the incident. The alarm was reported at around 17:45 local time and coverage continued into the early evening. It was not immediately clear whether the substance was actually dangerous, whether the evacuation had ended, or how extensive the disruption to passenger handling and flight punctuality would become.
