Mexican airport operator ASUR has completed its acquisition of Motiva’s airport platform, taking control of 20 airports across Brazil, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Curaçao. The transaction is valued at R$12.211 billion, including a R$5.187 billion equity payment and R$7.024 billion in assumed net debt.
The portfolio includes 17 Brazilian airports, among them Belo Horizonte/Confins, Belo Horizonte/Pampulha, Curitiba, Foz do Iguaçu, Goiânia, Navegantes, Joinville, Londrina, Palmas, Teresina, São Luís, Petrolina, Pelotas, Bagé, Uruguaiana, Imperatriz and Curitiba/Bacacheri. Outside Brazil, the assets comprise terminals in Ecuador, Costa Rica and Curaçao.
ASUR said the acquisition adds about 45 million passengers a year and more than 200 scheduled routes to its network. The transfer took effect immediately, with existing employees remaining in place and operations continuing without changes at handover. Brazil’s aviation regulator had already approved the transaction in June, clearing the way for closing. Motiva’s airport business had previously been packaged in its subsidiary CPC.
