Leonardo appoints Stefano Villanti to lead helicopters division

Leonardo has appointed Stefano Villanti as managing director of Leonardo Helicopters, effective immediately, placing a long-serving executive at the helm of one of its core aerospace businesses. Villanti takes over the rotorcraft division after about a decade in senior roles within the unit, including the past three years overseeing sales, marketing and contracts.

The move brings a leadership refresh to a business central to Leonardo’s rotary-wing portfolio while preserving continuity in management. Villanti’s background inside the helicopters division gives him direct experience across commercial and customer-facing functions, alongside familiarity with the group’s aircraft and support activities.

The appointment comes as Leonardo continues to rely on its helicopters arm as a key contributor to the wider aerospace group. No additional strategic changes were disclosed alongside the leadership transition, and the announcement did not specify a venue for the change.
