Austrian Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320neo fitted with CFM LEAP engines, with the aircraft arriving in Vienna on Monday evening. Registered OE-LXF, the jet is also the first A320-family aircraft in the carrier’s fleet equipped with Starlink internet, adding a new narrowbody to its short- and medium-haul operation.
The delivery fits into Austrian’s fleet-modernisation programme as the Lufthansa Group carrier shifts towards newer and more efficient A320neo-family aircraft. The move also standardises part of the narrowbody fleet around LEAP propulsion, which is intended to support lower fuel burn and improved operating efficiency compared with older-generation types.
The aircraft’s arrival combines two fleet changes at once: a new engine configuration and the first Starlink installation on an A320-family aircraft at Austrian. The jet is expected to support the airline’s continental network while introducing higher-speed onboard connectivity for passengers on short- and medium-haul services.
