American Airlines to resume Miami–Caracas service on 3 September

American Airlines will resume nonstop service between Miami and Caracas on 3 September, restoring its main Florida-Venezuela route with two daily flights. The operation will use Boeing 737-800 and 737-8 aircraft on one rotation and an Envoy Air Embraer E175 on the other, after a temporary suspension linked to earthquake damage at Caracas’ Simón Bolívar International Airport at Maiquetía.

The restart comes after June earthquakes disrupted operations at the airport, which serves Venezuela’s capital. American had returned to the market on 30 April 2026 after a long absence and had been flying Miami–Caracas before the suspension, while continuing service to Maracaibo.

The route restoration lifts one of the few remaining direct U.S.–Venezuela air links and returns capacity for travellers and the Venezuelan diaspora. Booking channels already reflect the resumed operation, and one report pointed to a higher seat count than the pre-suspension schedule, pending government approval. The service remains contingent on the airport operating normally as expected.
