EHang’s EH216-S pilotless eVTOL completed its first public flight at Hong Kong Cyberport as part of the city’s Regulatory Sandbox X low-altitude economy trial. The aircraft carried out vertical take-off and landing, low-altitude cruise and hover manoeuvres along a pre-programmed route, while further public demonstrations were lined up from 28 to 30 August to test reliability and safety in higher-frequency operations.
The flight followed validation sorties that began in mid-August and brought the programme into a more visible public phase. Officials and industry figures attended the event in Hong Kong, where the government is pushing low-altitude aviation as part of a broader mobility strategy.
The Cyberport demonstration sits within efforts to prepare pilotless aircraft for regular operations in the city and the wider Greater Bay Area. The scheduled follow-up sessions were intended to gather additional operational data, but the available reporting does not indicate any immediate commercial launch or service start.
