Sri Lanka joins EHang fast-track programme to accelerate eVTOL adoption

EHang has launched a Global Fast Track Programme for pilotless eVTOL deployment, with Sri Lanka becoming the first market to adopt the framework through the country’s Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation and Civil Aviation Authority. The initial plan targets sandbox commercial operations in Colombo within four months, subject to regulatory, technical, operational and safety checks.

The programme is designed as a staged route from regulatory alignment to commercial launch, using a sandbox model before wider service begins. Initial activity will centre on a designated zone in Colombo’s Port City, where validation flights and infrastructure build-out are expected to precede commercial approval.

EHang positioned Sri Lanka as the inaugural test case for its international rollout strategy, giving the company a named starting point for pilotless eVTOL commercialisation outside China. Potential use cases under consideration include tourism flights and airport-to-city connections, although final deployment depends on successful assessments and operational approval.
