Lufthansa has ended a long-running reciprocal duty-travel arrangement with Condor, removing discounted flights for employees of both airlines from 1 September. The move covers staff travel within the Lufthansa and Condor network and comes after Lufthansa judged the deal to be commercially unbalanced and no longer economically justified in its previous form.
The agreement had allowed Condor employees to book discounted Lufthansa flights through My ID Travel, while Lufthansa staff could also access reduced-fare Condor business travel. That mutual benefit will now disappear, although private travel under the broader setup remains possible in some cases. Condor has said its staff’s necessary business travel will continue to be covered through alternative connections or regular tickets.
The change further cools relations between the two German carriers and closes a perk that had been in place for years. It also leaves some intra-group discounted travel untouched, as not all Lufthansa Group carriers are affected in the same way. For crew and duty-travel planning, the shift adds cost and routing complexity at a time when airlines are scrutinising employee travel benefits more closely.
