Southwest expands vacation package push with new fare sale

Southwest Airlines has widened its Getaways by Southwest vacation business while running a limited-time sale on its own flights, as the carrier pushes further into bundled travel products beyond point-to-point tickets. The promotion offers up to 40% off base fares on eligible Southwest-operated flights, with bookings available through 13 August for travel between 31 August 2026 and 3 March 2027.

The sale applies automatically at booking and carries blackout dates as well as market and day restrictions. It fits Southwest’s broader effort to sell flight-and-hotel packages through Getaways by Southwest, alongside partner hotel inventory and branded vacation pages. Southwest’s online vacation platform now includes hotel bundling and package offers, signalling a deeper move into ancillary revenue and packaged leisure travel.

The carrier has been expanding the commercial role of its vacation product as it looks to capture more customer spend within its own booking channels. The current fare discount provides a near-term demand stimulus while also supporting the wider packaging strategy, which combines air travel with hotel inventory rather than relying solely on standalone ticket sales.
