Lufthansa Cargo’s four Airbus A321P2F freighters have left Germany after months on the ground at different airports, while the carrier continues to look for a way to put them back into service. The aircraft, which had provided regional freighter capacity, were taken out of operation after the dissolution of Lufthansa CityLine, and Lufthansa Cargo is still pursuing a new operating arrangement for the leased fleet.
The relocation follows earlier parking of the aircraft in Germany and leaves their near-term deployment unresolved. Lufthansa Cargo rejects the view that the freighters will be abandoned and is still working toward a resumption of flights, with negotiations over a new operator continuing.
The outcome matters for the carrier’s short-haul cargo network in Europe and North Africa, where the A321P2F fleet had offered about 210 metric tons of daily regional capacity. Lufthansa Cargo plans to provide further updates once the discussions have been concluded.
