NATO ambassadors have condemned recent Russian airspace violations over Poland and Romania, following a meeting of the alliance’s permanent representatives. The alliance placed full responsibility on Russia and described the incidents, alongside recent drone incursions, as dangerous and unacceptable.
The statement underlined growing concern within NATO over the scale and frequency of aerial incidents near allied borders. It said the events show Russia is taking increasing risks, while reaffirming full solidarity and support for the affected members.
NATO also linked the response to operational preparedness, saying it is continuing to build up integrated air and missile defence across allied territory. The emphasis on air defence reflects a broader effort to strengthen surveillance, interception and protection capabilities across the alliance’s eastern flank, where violations and drone activity have heightened security pressure.
