An American Eagle Embraer E175LR operated by Envoy Air diverted to Evansville, Indiana, after three missed approaches in Kentucky and a fuel emergency during a Dallas/Fort Worth-to-Lexington flight. The aircraft, operating as AA3927, landed safely after severe thunderstorms disrupted arrivals at both Lexington Blue Grass Airport and Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.
The crew first attempted to land in Lexington before going around in poor visibility. Two further approaches in Louisville also failed as heavy precipitation and low cloud continued to affect the area, prompting the pilots to declare an emergency and squawk 7700 with about 30 minutes of fuel remaining. Air traffic control then vectored the flight to Evansville Regional Airport, where it touched down safely roughly three hours after departure.
No injuries were reported. The incident highlights how convective weather can quickly turn a routine regional service into a fuel-critical diversion when nearby alternates are also unavailable.
