Sun Phu Quoc Airways will add eight former American Airlines Airbus A330-200s to its fleet, with the first two due in Vietnam in September and entering service immediately. Two more aircraft are scheduled to arrive by the end of 2026, followed by four additional jets in the first four months of 2027, giving the Vietnamese leisure carrier a rapid boost in widebody capacity for expansion from Phu Quoc.
The aircraft, which have been stored since 2020, are intended to support medium- and long-haul growth before the airline begins taking Boeing 787-9s in 2031. The A330s are expected to underpin planned services to South Korea, Russia, Kazakhstan, Japan and Australia, while Europe is also under study. The first aircraft will be used to strengthen existing demand and support new international routes.
