Lockheed Martin has formed a teaming agreement with Albany Engineered Composites to speed scalable production of U.S. hypersonic systems from Littleton, Colorado. The partnership is designed to support high-rate, mission-ready capability for the U.S. Department of War, with the companies targeting future full-rate production opportunities rather than a single programme award.
Lockheed Martin will contribute systems integration expertise, while Albany Engineered Composites, part of Albany International Corp., will provide agile composite manufacturing. The structure of the agreement defines roles and cost responsibilities, giving the partners flexibility to adapt as programme requirements and government directives evolve.
The companies are positioning the collaboration as an industrial-base move to help meet demand for reliable, cost-effective hypersonic systems at scale. Lockheed Martin vice president and general manager Johnathon Caldwell linked the effort to combining system integration and battle-ready engineering with Albany’s composite production capability, while Albany Engineered Composites president Chris Stone described hypersonics manufacturing as requiring advanced composite structures at unprecedented scale.
