Lockheed Martin has launched Strigo and a new Product Center of Missile Technology Solutions in Orlando, Florida, as it steps up development of modular missile and sensing systems. The architecture is built around a common baseline spanning RF sensors, missile datalinks and seeker technologies, with reconfiguration designed to support air defence, missile defence and air-to-surface missions.
The new centre is intended to accelerate the path from concept to delivery and operate as a source of ready-now and near-ready products. Lockheed Martin has already moved multiple concepts from initial design through testing at the facility, and technologies from the Strigo family have informed elements of the PrSM Increment 2 seeker package.
The company has invested $250 million in the centre to date, underscoring its push toward faster-cycle missile development as militaries seek more adaptable systems against evolving threats. No customer names, contract values for the launch or operational fielding timetable were disclosed.
