Honeywell Aerospace is leading VERTI-GO, a 12-partner European consortium study backed by the EU’s SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking to examine how eVTOL air taxis, cargo drones and other advanced air mobility aircraft can safely operate alongside conventional traffic in European airspace. The project carries a total budget of EUR 6.77 million, including an EU contribution of EUR 4.99 million, and runs from June 2026 to May 2029.
Partners include ENAIRE, NATS, EUROCONTROL, Aena, CRIDA, the Czech air navigation service provider, Frequentis, ITG, Vertical Aerospace, ODYS Aviation and Aerosolutions. Work will cover simulations and operational demonstrations at sites across Europe, including Spain, with a focus on procedures, services and technologies needed for mixed operations in a congested airspace environment.
The research agenda targets several of the sector’s most pressing integration issues, including digital flight planning, process automation, vertiport management and coordination between AAM operators and air traffic controllers. ENAIRE will help design and validate new operational concepts for mixed traffic, while the consortium’s broader aim is to build the framework needed for scalable urban air mobility and cargo drone services in Europe.
