Lufthansa Group has appointed Edi Wolfensberger as chief executive of Edelweiss, with the transition to take effect on 1 October 2026. He will succeed Bernd Bauer, who is leaving the group after 12 years at the helm of the Swiss leisure airline.
Wolfensberger is currently chief operating officer of Eurowings, placing the next Edelweiss leader within Lufthansa Group’s own management ranks. The move comes as part of a broader reshuffle across the group’s airline portfolio, underscoring an internal succession process rather than an external hire.
Edelweiss, based in Switzerland, has framed the change as a continuation of its leadership stability, with Bauer’s long tenure covering more than a decade of growth at the leisure carrier. No operational changes, fleet decisions or financial terms were disclosed alongside the appointment.
