Air India, SkyDrive and Suzuki Motor Corporation have signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding to study the use of electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for medical air logistics in India. The feasibility study will examine time-critical last-mile emergency transport, with the partners positioning the project around the challenges of heavy traffic congestion in major Indian cities.
The collaboration combines Air India’s operational experience, SkyDrive’s eVTOL technology and Suzuki’s market knowledge in India. The work is focused on the study phase only, and no aircraft order, launch timetable, certification plan or operating route has been disclosed.
The initiative targets medical infrastructure and emergency logistics rather than passenger services, reflecting growing interest in advanced air mobility for practical urban transport problems. By concentrating on medical deliveries and urgent missions, the companies are testing whether electric aircraft could provide a faster alternative where ground access is slowed by congestion.
