Sling Aircraft has revealed plans for a twin-engine piston aircraft designed for the FAA’s updated light-sport framework, with configurations for four-seat LSA/MOSAIC use and six-seat Experimental Amateur-Built operations. The South African manufacturer positioned the Sling Twin around the broader engine rules created by MOSAIC, which no longer require light-sport aircraft to use a single reciprocating engine.
The project is still in development, but Sling has outlined a package that includes two turbocharged Rotax 916 iS engines, constant-speed propellers, Garmin AXIS 11.6-inch displays and a whole-airplane parachute built into the design from the outset. The aircraft is expected to return to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in 2027, after being shown around the 2026 event.
Sling has not yet disclosed performance targets, dimensions, pricing, first-flight timing or delivery plans. The concept could create a lower-cost multi-engine option for training and time-building, while also giving builders a new twin-engine platform within the expanded MOSAIC environment.
