Sora Aviation has announced a collaboration with Toray Advanced Composites to supply composite materials for the S-1, a 30-seat eVTOL concept, in an agreement unveiled around the Farnborough International Airshow. Toray will provide materials for the airframe and proprotor blades, supporting work towards a flying prototype and eventual series production.
The S-1 is described as a UK-designed advanced air mobility aircraft intended for passenger transport rather than a small air taxi. The collaboration gives the programme a named aerospace composites supplier as Sora expands its industrial base for key technologies needed for certification, reliability and industrialisation.
The agreement is part of Sora’s wider effort to secure critical subsystems for the aircraft. One additional announcement linked to the same setting was a sensing-solution memorandum of intent with Honeywell, reinforcing the company’s focus on building out its supplier network at Farnborough.
