IAI unveils Ellyon electronic warfare and ISTAR aircraft

Israel Aerospace Industries has unveiled Ellyon, a new airborne electronic warfare and ISTAR platform designed as an all-in-one multi-mission system. The announcement was made on 20 July, with the aircraft concept presented around the Farnborough Airshow in the UK.

Ellyon combines electronic attack and jamming, SIGINT and intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance functions on a single airborne platform. IAI has positioned the system as a standoff solution that can detect, classify and disrupt electromagnetic signals while also supporting intelligence collection. Reported features include an Elta AESA wideband standoff jammer, multibeam technology and a multi-mode AESA capable of air-to-ground, air-to-sea and air-to-air operation.

The aircraft concept is being shown with a rendering based on a Gulfstream G550, indicating a large business jet platform for integration. The launch adds to IAI’s wider push in advanced mission aircraft and defence electronics, and was accompanied by the unveiling of another system, Hypnosis.
