Air New Zealand to retrofit seven 777-300ERs with Collins Elevation suites and Panasonic Astrova IFE from March 2027

Air New Zealand confirmed a $100 million cabin retrofit for its seven Boeing 777-300ERs, installing Collins Aerospace Elevation Business Premier suites with sliding privacy doors and ZIM Economy seats, alongside Panasonic Astrova IFE, starting March 2027 in Singapore. The forward-facing reverse herringbone Business Premier layout retains 44 seats with 43-inch pitch and lie-flat capability, while Economy gains two seats to 246 total, including 16 Skycouch rows and 35-inch pitch in Economy Stretch rows. Premium Economy remains unchanged at 52 seats, keeping overall capacity at 342. The upgrade aligns the 777 experience with retrofitted 787-9 Dreamliners, addressing aging interior maintenance costs and extending fleet retirement into the 2030s, with all seven aircraft completed by December 2027.
