Qantas Freight A321 Makes First Landing at Western Sydney International Airport

A Qantas Airbus A321 freighter became the first aircraft to land at Western Sydney International Airport on 10 July 2026, validating infrastructure ahead of regular cargo operations starting 27 July. The test flight, identified as QF7301 and touching down at 2pm, marks the airport’s transition from construction site to active aviation facility, confirming operational readiness for its 24,000 sq-m freight terminal designed to handle 850 tonnes weekly. Qantas Freight and Jetstar are confirmed launch customers, with Jetstar operating the inaugural passenger service to the Gold Coast on 25 October 2026. This $5.6 billion curfew-free facility will serve up to 10 million passengers annually and increase Sydney’s total air cargo capacity by approximately 33 percent.
