Air Tahiti Nui to equip Boeing 787-9 fleet with free Starlink Wi-Fi

Air Tahiti Nui has signed an agreement with SpaceX to install Starlink Wi-Fi across its Boeing 787-9 fleet, with the service planned to enter operation in 2027. The airline expects passengers in all travel classes to have free access to connectivity from take-off to landing, including over oceans and remote areas. It has not specified which aircraft will be equipped first or when installations will be completed.

The airline cites an expected latency of 25 to 30 milliseconds. The agreement covers its entire 787-9 fleet, but no installation sequence, specific launch date or route-by-route introduction plan has been disclosed.

Air Tahiti Nui operates long-haul services from French Polynesia. It has framed the connectivity upgrade as part of its broader development strategy and response to passenger expectations for improved onboard service. The service is planned and is not yet available to passengers.
