Avolon finalises record order for 140 Boeing 737-10s

Avolon has finalised an order for 140 Boeing 737-10 aircraft, the largest 737 MAX purchase by a lessor, taking its backlog for the family to more than 240 aircraft. The deal gives the aircraft lessor additional capacity to offer larger single-aisle jets to airline customers for fleet growth and renewal. Financial terms and delivery dates were not disclosed.

The 737-10 is the largest member of Boeing’s 737 MAX family. It can seat up to 230 passengers and has a range of 3,100 nautical miles (5,740 km), according to Boeing. Avolon chief executive Andy Cronin cited demand for new-technology aircraft, along with the variant’s capacity and economics, as factors in strengthening the company’s long-term delivery pipeline.

Lessors placed firm orders for more than 230 737-10s during 2026, while their combined orders for the 737 MAX family exceed 1,450 aircraft—about 20% of Boeing’s backlog. Boeing estimates that 737 aircraft account for about 30% of the aircraft financed by lessors.
