Ryanair to launch flights from Kassel in summer 2027

Ryanair will add Kassel Airport in Calden, Hesse, to its network in summer 2027, with two weekly flights each to Palma de Mallorca and Lamezia Terme. The four weekly services are scheduled to begin in late March and run through October; the airport reports that tickets are already on sale. The routes will give northern Hesse direct links to Spain and southern Italy.

Palma is scheduled on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 31 March to 30 October. Flights to Lamezia Terme in Calabria are planned for Mondays and Fridays from 29 March to 29 October. The published schedules give departure times of 09:15 on Wednesdays and 19:30 on Saturdays for Palma, and 13:15 on Mondays and 17:10 on Fridays for Lamezia Terme.

Kassel Airport managing director Lars Ernst described Ryanair’s arrival as a positive development for the airport and the region. The airline also expects the routes to support inbound tourism and regional employment. Its announcement included criticism of German aviation taxes and charges, which it argues constrain investment; it did not identify these costs as the reason for choosing Kassel.

The regional airport is pursuing activities beyond passenger services, including logistics, training and drone-related operations, as it contends with recurring multimillion-euro losses.
